I paint in oils, soft pastels and watercolour, inspired by the colours, textures and forms of the landscape and natural world. I don't aim for photorealism (I take photographs for that); I only try to express the emotions that arise at a particular moment in time. My work is intuitive, often inspired by colour and pattern. There is no drawing out first and colouring in – the paintings emerge from my experiences of being outdoors in the landscape, and the mood of the moment and place.
